In August 2007 Fr Cornelius Chalwe wrote as follows:

We have formulated a Rooted in Jesus plan with the Training Chaplain of the Diocese of Luapula. We have a Team that we go round the Parishes with me as head and Coordinator of the Dicoese. I have trained 13 [leaders] at Kashimishi St Francis Anglican church. Each chose a responsibility to carry in teaching choir members, Mother’s Union, Lay Readers, or Bible Study groups. All are capable group leaders. Before I go to college I am going back there; I have gone there three times. And the life of the Congregation is never the same, and Jesus is touching people’s lives. I went to Luongo parish, where Rooted in Christ has taken root. The challenge is enormous. What we did with the clergy has helped a lot. I have seen certificates at the Diocesan Office with the Training Chaplain. I am arranging a certificate presentation day for each group. I have trained others at Mwense St Agnes. I have planned a Youth Camp at Mulunda Conference centre; I will use mostly the discipleship material and Rooted in Jesus. The number might be 500 youth. At the Musonda Mother’s Union Conference Rooted in Jesus was one of the subjects which was taught, and women are excited about using it in their every meeting at all levels – branch, parish, archdeaconry and diocesan executive. There is tremendous transformation going on. Old ladies are giving testimonies of how they are being healed and touched by the Lord’s hand.

In May 2008 Cornelius sent us the following report:

MBALA                 17 congregations using Rooted in Jesus

KASAMA               11 congregations using Rooted in Jesus

MUSONDA            9 congregations using Rooted in Jesus

MWENSE              24 parents were taught during the preparation of baptism using Rooted in Jesus. These topics from Rooted in Jesus book 1 I did teach myself and I was amazed how those who never been to school can memorise the memory verses, for it comes from the heart and not the mind. I baptised 37 after going up to lesson 7

KASHIKISHI           24 Mothers Union are using Rooted in Jesus. And using Rooted in Jesus for baptism classes up to lesson 6. I baptised 44 at Easter.

'All is well with I and my family. I have trained five leaders who have finished all the four books, and the leaders have groups they are teaching. After people [are trained] we need them to help in planting churches and helping people know Jesus on the personal level.'
