A Report from Amorim Rocha
Diocese of Niassa
Mozambique, July 2007
God is good every
moment. . .
Thanks to God I am
again in Lichinga after seeing the miracles produced by the Holy Spirit in
the Zambezia Ecclesiastical District.
Thanks to God, the meetings went well, with the help of the Holy Spirit I
trained 80 leaders of Rooted in Jesus groups including pastors, catechists,
evangelists and church leaders (both women and men). It really was a big
spiritual renewal in those areas and I also grew and was blessed.
In Mocuba on the third day of the seminar, I felt and saw the action of the
Holy Spirit; many participants were touched and presented their preoccupations
in the midst of brothers, being delivered as Christ cut all cords uniting them
with Satan. Some had problems with their neighbours, not speaking with each
other but being catechists; many brought themselves to Christ, renouncing
drunkenness, smoking tobacco and their involvement in black magic. We had
cries and tears, but finished by all being renewed and strengthened through
the Holy Spirit.
In Morrumbala, again we encountered miracles! God is powerful! We had 30
participants, both women and men (chatechists, evangelistas, lay leaders); the
Pastor was not with us. Even more remarkable things happened: one catechist
who had led a congregation for 3 years, dedicated to Christ, revealed that he
had been a Curanderio (witch doctor) and presented all his instruments of
divination, superstitious healing and black magic (3 tails of wild animals, 3
earthenware pots with drugs, 6 gourds and a kind of small cushion) and all
thishe brought to be burnt and he remained liberated receiving Jesus Christ as
his Saviour. Other catechists from Morrumbala brought their problems with
drink, smoking, worship of ancestors, involvement with magic ceremonies and
other superstitious things;, these studies are a blessing and the Holy Spirit
is working.
In Milange there were 31 people, including the Episcopal Delegate. I sensed a
large degree of openness on the part of the catechists and a willingness to
accept transformation and spiritual revival through a right relationship with
God. There also, a catechist, touched by the Holy Spirit, confessed drugs in
his house and brought himself to Christ, asking to be forgiven; we prayed.
A big problem of Milange and Molumbo and in the surrounding area is polygamy.
Many catechists, evangelists and other are polygamists and said they had done
this without knowing because they thought that, in the Anglican church, a
believer can drink and can have two wives. During confession, many repented
and mentioning their sins in the presence of others, many with tears.
Since I began my ministry, I have never seen such marvels that I have seen
during this seminar journey.
On the other hand, I
have discovered that we have a problem in the lack of Biblical teaching and of
Christian faith, especially the Padres; because they only celebrate mass on
Sundays and that’s it.
I am sure that God is doing, and will do, his work, and a spriritual renewal
in the Diocese is happening.
I am happy and
thankful for your prayers and support. I wish to serve God where he wants me.
Because I am a vessel of God and He can put in this vessel that which he
desires and I, as that vessel of his, cannot reject because God always has a
proposition in all we do in our lives, especially as servants.
God bless you
in Christ
